Qualcomm Disputes Anti-Trust Claims By Japanese Regulators

Qualcomm (NSDQ: QCOM) is disputing anti-trust claims in Japan, where regulators say the company is forcing customers in the country to accept unfair licensing provisions, reports Reuters.

In a statement, Qualcomm said it “naturally disputes the notion that any provisions in our license agreements with Japanese companies were forced upon them.” It plans to submit a written response opposing a draft order written by Japan’s Fair Trade Commission over the next two weeks. In July, South Korea’s anti-trust agency fined Qualcomm $208 million and said the wireless chip maker must stop discriminating against companies using competitor’s products.
